NOBODY'S NEIGHBOURSWhere AI sits among the world's values

PICK A QUESTION

Countries: weighted national averages, WVS 2017–2023. AI models: 100 runs each, October 2026.

HOW TO READ IT

Each blue dot is one country, placed at the average answer of its people. Each red dot is one of an AI model’s 100 answers to the same question, asked in 100 separate conversations. A tall single pile means the model gave the same answer every time; several piles mean it wavered.

WHAT IT DOES NOT SAY

A country’s average hides the range of its people, and a model’s answers in a survey are not its behaviour in conversation. Answers people could give but the models were not offered, such as “hard to say”, count in the country averages only.

WHERE IT COMES FROM

World Values Survey, wave 7 (fieldwork 2017–2023, 97,220 people in 66 countries), weighted national averages. AI models: GPT-5.6 Luna, Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Gemini 3.1 Pro, each asked the 128 questions 100 times in October 2026, “your own view”, default settings.
